Theresa Walker
In a time when music artists seem to be all image and no real substance comes Theresa Walker. In her new CD entitled, “The next big thing”, Theresa takes a refreshingly honest look at the joy, the pain, and the conviction it takes to follow your hearts desire.
Theresa poignantly explores the deep fear of failure in the title track “The next big thing”. We can’t help but identify with her sense of losing sight of her dreams and wonder about our own. Are we living the life we imagined we would? Or have we settled for less then what we had once hoped for?
We all know going after what we want in life isn’t always easy. We face rejection, work ridiculous jobs, and find ourselves in less then ideal situations. In the song “Uncomfortable phase” Theresa playfully describes this perfectly. Yet, when she sings “I’d rather be uneasy chasing rainbows in the sky…then give it up and settle down and tell myself I tried” she reminds us that it’s well worth the trouble.
“Love is food” is a glimpse into the many facets of a long term relationship. It always starts out great in the beginning but what happens when the honeymoon is over? Theresa captures the hope and the disappointment that come with the territory of being in love.
So much of the music out there seems diluted and lacks real heart. Really great music moves us, changes us, and makes us feel beyond what we have felt before. Theresa Walker is a breath of fresh air for the true music lover.
